Hi Jacqui, I talked this through with several insurance providers and we couldn't think of a scenario where the client's own travel insurance wouldn't pay them out for injuries or financial loss due to cancelation, etc. I guess the only thing could be being sued. It's not really an issue for us here in NZ or Australia, but maybe American guides would need that cover.

Love your ideas, Megan. I will consider this when I have travelled enough to be able to share my experience with others. For now, the only trips I could organise would be to some of Goa’s best beaches. Not sure if I’d get any takers for those.

Very interesting post, Megan. Thx for sharing. Very appropriate for me, as I’m meeting with another travel agent this week to see about firming up some details for a small group chocolate tour. (I’m Doreen the chocolate Queen!) I’ve tried to organize tours with a few agents before and they didn’t pan out. One was only going to give me a pittance for every person who signed up. One was going to give me much more, but expected me to do all the selling. Another had only clients who looked for budget trips and I don’t do budget. So, I’m slowly learning how many variables can really affect the outcome of a campaign. Would you mind airing a bit more of the financials with me? If not here, please e-mail me privately. What a wonderful idea!! So much more exciting than assisting someone through a screen, actually getting to live and breathe their experience along side them. You are living the dream! All the best with your future tours, would love to do a similar thing around my hometown in Scotland as its so remote so tourist routes very rarely go there!
